Permanence of the torsion-freeness property for divisible discrete quantum subgroups
We prove that torsion-freeness in the sense of Meyer-Nest is preserved under
divisible discrete quantum subgroups. As a consequence, we obtain some
stability results of the torsion-freeness property for relevant constructions
of quantum groups (quantum (semi-)direct products, compact bicrossed products
and quantum free products). We improve some stability results concerning the
Baum-Connes conjecture appearing already in a previous work of the author. For
instance, we show that the (resp. strong) Baum-Connes conjecture is preserved
by discrete quantum subgroups (without any torsion-freeness or divisibility
assumption).Comment: Accepted for publication in Mathematica Scandinavic
Quantum direct products and the K\"unneth class
We introduce a K\"unneth class in the quantum equivariant setting inspired by
the pioneer work by J. Chabert, H. Oyono-Oyono and S. Echterhoff, which allows
to relate the quantum Baum-Connes property with the K\"unneth formula by
generalising some key results of Chabert-Oyono-Oyono-Echterhoff to discrete
quantum groups. Finally, we make the observation that the C-algebra
defining a compact quantum group with dual satisfying the strong quantum
Baum-Connes property belongs to the K\"unneth class. This allows to obtain some
K-theory computations for quantum direct products based on earlier work by
Voigt and Vergnioux-Voigt.Comment: Accepted for publication in Annales Mathematiques Blaise Pasca

Computer‑aided craniofacial superimposition validation study: the identification of the leaders and participants of the Polish‑Lithuanian January Uprising (1863–1864)
In 2017, a series of human remains corresponding to the executed leaders of the “January Uprising” of 1863–1864 were
uncovered at the Upper Castle of Vilnius (Lithuania). During the archeological excavations, 14 inhumation pits with the
human remains of 21 individuals were found at the site. The subsequent identification process was carried out, including
the analysis and cross-comparison of post-mortem data obtained in situ and in the lab with ante-mortem data obtained from
historical archives. In parallel, three anthropologists with diverse backgrounds in craniofacial identification and two students
without previous experience attempted to identify 11 of these 21 individuals using the craniofacial superimposition technique.
To do this, the five participants had access to 18 3D scanned skulls and 14 photographs of 11 different candidates.
The participants faced a cross-comparison problem involving 252 skull-face overlay scenarios. The methodology follows the
main agreements of the European project MEPROCS and uses the software Skeleton-ID™. Based on MEPROCS standard,
a final decision was provided within a scale, assigning a value in terms of strong, moderate, or limited support to the claim
that the skull and the facial image belonged (or not) to the same person for each case. The problem of binary classification,
positive/negative, with an identification rate for each participant was revealed. The results obtained in this study make the
authors think that both the quality of the materials used and the previous experience of the analyst play a fundamental role
when reaching conclusions using the CFS technique.CRUE-CSICSpanish Government

A Survey on Artificial Intelligence Techniques for Biomedical Image Analysis in Skeleton-Based Forensic Human Identification
This paper represents the first survey on the application of AI techniques for the analysis
of biomedical images with forensic human identification purposes. Human identification is of
great relevance in today’s society and, in particular, in medico-legal contexts. As consequence,
all technological advances that are introduced in this field can contribute to the increasing necessity
for accurate and robust tools that allow for establishing and verifying human identity. We first
describe the importance and applicability of forensic anthropology in many identification scenarios.
Later, we present the main trends related to the application of computer vision, machine learning
and soft computing techniques to the estimation of the biological profile, the identification through
comparative radiography and craniofacial superimposition, traumatism and pathology analysis,
as well as facial reconstruction. The potentialities and limitations of the employed approaches are
described, and we conclude with a discussion about methodological issues and future research.Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and UniversitiesEuropean Union (EU)

Caracterización químico-mineralógica de las cromitas ofiolíticas de Calzadilla de los Barros (Badajoz)
The Cerro Cabrera and Sierra Cabeza Gorda peridotite massifs (Calzadilla de los Barros, Badajoz) comprise serpentinites hosting podiform chromite mineralization and have been interpreted as part of an ophiolitic slab. The chromites are Al-rich and cristallized from a MORB-type melt. The subsolidus reequilibration with olivine depleted the chromite margins in Al and Mg. Later metamorphic alteration produced a enrichment in Fe3+, resulting in the formation of ferrichromite
Prevalence of Depression and Related Factors among Patients with Chronic Disease during the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
The management of chronic diseases in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic is especially
challenging, and reducing potential psychological harm is essential. This review aims to determine
the prevalence of depression during the COVID-19 pandemic in patients with chronic disease, and
to characterize the impacts of related factors. A systematic review was conducted in accordance
with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.
The meta-analysis was performed using StatsDirect software. The review identified 33 articles with
a total of 50,905 patients with chronic diseases. Four meta-analyses were performed to estimate
the prevalence of depression. In diabetic patients, the prevalence ranged from 17% (95% CI = 7–31)
(PHQ-9) to 33% (95% CI = 16–51) (PHQ-8); in obese patients, the prevalence was 48% (95% CI = 26–71);
and in hypertensive patients, the prevalence was 18% (95% CI = 13–24). The factors significantly
associated with depression were female sex, being single, deterioration in the clinical parameters
of diabetes, a decrease in self-care behavior, reduced physical activity and sleep time and fear of
contagion. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased levels of depression among persons
with chronic disease. Pandemics and other emergency events have a major impact on mental health,
so early psychological interventions and health management policies are needed to reinforce chronic
patients’ physical and mental health
